- Artist Official Atypical Soundtrack – Discover Some Amazing Indie Artists
Atypical Soundtrack and Official Spotify Playlist – Most Underrated Artists
Atypical, created by Robia Rashid (best known for How I Met Your Mother and The Goldbergs) is a coming of age dark comedy, released by Netflix on August 11, 2017. The series follows the life of 18-year old Sam Gardner, who is high on the autism spectrum. While this series adds a unique perspective on mental illness, it also does it in a clever and funny way. The Atypical soundtrack also introduces us to some amazing new artists.
What does it mean to be normal?
That is the biggest mission that Netflix and the creatives behind Atypical faced when launching the series. Sam Gardner is your average high school senior, who goes through normal everyday life such as popularity, getting a girlfriend and all the struggles that come with it. The fact that he has autism really sheds a different light on these otherwise normal issues and this creates a really interesting narrative.
Behind the Soundtrack Atypical
The soundtrack of Atypical has a mixture of indie alt-rock, upbeat acoustic and pop. One amazing thing that we love about finding soundtracks from popular shows and movies is how always feature and sometimes even launch new and uprising talent. So without further due, here are some completely underrated artists who seemed to of made a debut in Atypical.
- Charles William
This song sounds like it was made for the show. Working as a very accurate interpretation of the vibe of the show is in the first trailer which features Charles William’s hit single ‘No Ordinary’. This small indie acoustic band currently boasts just over 39,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
2. Milo Green
This self-proclaimed cinematic indie pop band first began in Los Angeles. Since starting their sound has really started to grow and develop new fans. By knowledge, the band is currently signed to Atlantic records and killing it on Spotify with over 500,000 monthly listeners, with their most popular single ‘1957’ gaining over 27m streams.
3. Glass Animals
Glass Animals have gone from strength to strength. We still remember first hearing them across Triple J on Australian Radio and then hearing them on the opening credits on Taken 3. Featured in season 1 of Atypical, Glass Animals ‘Black Mambo’ adds to the weird, yet the quirky and loveable character of Sam.
